How do you enroll in Alternative Education programs?
 
Current CVUSD students:
 

CVUSD students must begin the process at their home school site counselor and/or administrator. Request a meeting with your counselor to apply for Alternative Education.
Interested, but reside outside of Chino Valley Unified School District?

Contact Pam Potts at (909) 591-3682 or by email at: pam_potts@chino.k12.ca.us,
to make an appointment to meet with Dr. Carr, Director of Alternative Education. If you choose to apply, a Inter-District Transfer (release) from your resident district will be required.

What programs are offered at the Alternative Education Center?

Virtual High School
grades 9-12
 
Academically rigorous course work delivered online and submitted online. Including Core courses, AP Courses, Foreign Languages, and electives.

Our online courses are UC/CSU approved and meet "a-g" and NCAA requirements.

Powered by Pearson's Virtual Learning with the use of the GradPoint platform.

In addition to the grade-level core courses and electives, we are proud to announce that our Virtual course catalog includes:
AP Calculus AB/BC
AP English 11
AP English 12
AP Economics
AP Psychology
AP Statistics
AP US History

Trig/Pre-Calculus
French (new)
German (new)
Independent Study
grades 9 - 12


Flexible scheduling for high school
students.

This program works well for students 
who work, need to recover credits, and/or
those students with health issues that may interfer with traditional school schedules.
Home-Based
Independent Study
grades (K-8)

Parents are very important team members in
this program.

Parent(s) and student meet with Home-Based IS teacher for approximately 3-4 hours per month; generally, on a weekly basis. Course work and curriculum is provided for students to complete at
home under the parent's supervision. At each
session, the teacher will review the completed
course work and evaluate student's understanding.

Junior high school students have the opportunity to take advanced-level online courses, for example high-level math and science classes.
